Garden Party Ideas And Flower Pot Crafts For Your Little Gardeners

Spring and summer is a great time to throw a kids garden party. There are a lot of fun flower pot crafts ideas to keep your little gardeners busy as a bee.

Find small plastic or wood flower pots at any garden center or craft store. Make sure the pot is a lighter color so it is easier to paint and decorate. Have the kids write their name on the bottom of the pot before starting. Set out different color paints and some brushes.
For a bright and colorful pot, have the kids paint the pot completely using one color of paint. Two coats of paint are best.

As the pots are drying, create “flowers” using tissue paper. Purchase different colors of tissue paper and cut out into square or circles. You can also use pinking shears for a fun edge. Knot or twist one end of a pipe cleaner into a ball. Take 7 or 8 pieces of any color tissue paper and push them one by one through the other end of the pipe cleaner (through the center of the paper) all the way up to the closed end. Once you have several pieces of tissue on the pipe cleaner, scrunch them with your fist over the closed end to resemble a flower. Repeat this several more times so you end up with a few flowers.

Another idea is to create tulips using sections of an egg carton. Just cut out the foam sections and cut the top of the section into v-shapes to look like a tulip. Have the kids paint their flowers. For the stems, use green pipe cleaner. Simply curl one end of the pipe cleaner and glue it to the bottom of the tulip.

Create fun critters such as ladybugs, caterpillars or bumble bees for inside of your pot. There are loads of fun bug craft ideas online. You can create lots of different kinds of bugs using Styrofoam balls, wiggly eyes, pipe cleaner and paints. For a more inexpensive craft, use pom poms. Glue together three different color pom poms and add wiggly eyes for a crazy caterpillar. You can also use a large red and a small black pom pom for a lovely ladybug.

After your pot is dry, paint a fun design such as flowers, butterflies or polka dots. Add green floral foam inside the pot and place the flowers into the foam. Add shredded green tissue paper at the base of the flowers.

These flower pot crafts make a great take home gift and unique party favor.

League of Pirates

Front Porch Classics’ highly successful and award wining Coffee Table Game – comes League of Pirates, a fast paced game of cut throat action. In this board game players compete to place the best pirates onto their respective ships. Players can “recruit”, “press gang” or even “raid” for the pirates they need. Game comes with over 40 unique and beautifully illustrated pirate coins suitable for collecting.

1697 – A storm gathers upon the Caribbean; a confederacy of pirates which seeks to overthrow the great houses of Europe and take for themselves the riches and bounty of the New World. As a pirate lord your goal is to assemble, by hook or by crook, the best pirate crew on your ship. Players compete in a dice challenge to determine who may place a pirate coin onto their ship. Press gang, recruits, turn another pirate into a traitor or raid other ships to form your crew. The player with the best pirate crew at the end of the game wins. League of Pirates is a fast paced, easy to learn, head to head battle of pirate action.

The Retro Beetle Game

Even children who are terrified of bugs will love this old-fashioned jigsaw game. Throw the dice to complete the beetle on your puzzle board. The first player to collect a full set of beetle body parts wins.

Based on a 1960s design, youngsters will love the game’s funky flowers and groovy beetles (and we’re not talking the Fab Four). A gift that would make a welcome addition to any curious kid’s Christmas stocking.

Touring England Board Game
Take a trip down memory lane with this classic motoring board game from the 1930s.

Players must start from the same town or city, and race to one of eight secret destinations. The first car back is the winner.

There’s a race to be won, but there are plenty of hazards en route. Watch out for narrow country lanes, collisions and red lights. This is life on the open road as it used to be. Tallyho! We’re off to the land that speed cameras forgot!

Parents and grandparents: an old-style Birthday gift, Christmas gift or a present that will teach your kids to read a map and get to grips with the geography of the British Isles. No Sat Navs allowed.

Panic Post Retro Family or Party Game
First played in the 1920s, this vintage parlor game will bring old-fashioned fun to any family gathering.

There are letters to be delivered, but finding the post box is harder than you might think.

Youngsters will scream with excitement as they dash around the house trying to catch the last post. But be careful not to panic! Hurry too much, and a postcard meant for Aberdeen will end up in Aberdare.

Parents and Grandparents: we all know electronic games are great, but this retro game will get the entire family up and running. Can be played indoors or out – snow permitting.

and lots more. Party Games

Sesame Street Kids Birthday Party – Fun For the Children, Let Elmo, Big Bird and Oscar Make Their Da

Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar and the whole gang are always in demand for a Sesame Street Birthday Party! These beloved educators in the form of funtastic friends, well known and beloved, are always welcome on the guest list, as young and old alike enjoy spending their special day with the gang from Sesame Street!

To make your own invitations use construction paper and picture book pictures of Big Bird. These pictures may be scanned and printed for the amount of invitations you will need. Just embellish the picture by gluing on feathers in big bird yellow, and write party details and any special instructions inside the card, and put in home made envelopes to mail or hand deliver.

A few great Sesame Street Party Games that are sure to please all your party guests are:

Big Bird’s Boy and Grover’s Giant Girl!

Attach pictures of Grover and Big Bird to the wall. Using a marker, draw a ruler to measure each child’s height, and add the caption “Big Bird says I’m ____Tall! Using a digital camera, photograph each child in place by the picture, and write the child’s name on the photograph. Allow them to take their picture home as one of their party favors.

Cut out Big Bird’s footprints from yellow contact paper and set up a winding path for guests to follow around the house, and yard stepping on footprints all the way.

Sesame Street Birthday Party Food Ideas:

Make a Bert and Ernie Cake! It is simple to bake two round cakes from a mix or your favorite recipe. When they are done, frost one yellow and decorate it as Ernie, frost the other with orange and decorate it as Bert, placing them beside each other on platters.

Make sandwiches out of peanut butter and jelly and cheese. Cut off the crusts and cut them into basic shapes such as circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles, and have children identify the shape as they choose their sandwiches.

21st Birthday – Time to Party Hard!

So you’re turning 21. You’re an adult now. You could drive and marry and now you can do another adult thing – have a beer. It’s the beginning of a new phase in your life. No more fake IDs torn up by disbelieving bouncers or cynical bartenders. The party’s only just starting and you know it. A word of caution before you begin to plan your big day – make sure that any under age party guests do not get access to alcohol at your party or you could be in serious trouble. Also ensure that you or your guests are not driving home after consuming alcohol that night.

OK, now let’s get back to planning a 21th birthday party. Make sure there are plenty of drinks and snacks to go around, get a big shiny disco ball, some great music and make space for dancing. A good drink idea is to have a big punch bowl and fill it up with potent liquid. Another drinking idea is to have jelly shooters, which are basically flavoured jell-o with half vodka, half water in the mix. You can pick a wild theme like 70’s flower children or slick 21st century urban club scene – the wilder the better! Make it even more fun by giving away small prizes for the best and worst dressed!

Remember to invite plenty of guests, because you only turn 21 once. Your 21st birthday is an occasion you’ll look back on fondly in the years to come.

Popular Costume Themes for this Halloween

As we approach the Halloween party season it is clear that online customers are already searching for new costume ideas. Whether you are looking for men women or children, there are some popular themes from the summer that will run through Halloween.

Additionally, the major fancy dress costume manufacturers have been waking up to the fact that there is continued (and rapid) growth in the Halloween costume market and recently there has been a surge in the number of new fancy dress costume ranges specifically targeted at Halloween.

So rather than simply identify and repeat what the most popular themes have been for the last few years, we should also be looking to predict which or the newer ranges will be taking this Halloween by storm and challenging for the position as most popular.

Pirates

This theme should take the number one position due to the popularity of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and the excitement that they have created. This is a fun costume theme and allows the whole family to be involved. The films popularity has also ensured that there are costumes across all price ranges and if you already own a pirate costume and sometimes as they get older they become more realistic, all you need to do is to add the right pirate accessories to complete the look.

Harry Potter

Again another blockbuster year for Harry Potter costumes and a new book to add to the excitement. Although there are some adult fancy dress costumes available, the majority are children related. There is a selection of robes which work well as unisex costumes and to these you can add broomsticks, glasses, ties and scarves for the real feeling of Hogwarts. There is even a Hedwig the Owl costume from Rubies Masquerade. Other characters include; Hemione, Ron Weasley and Hagrid. Rubies have also introduced a nice Charm School Witch costume which although isn’t strictly Harry Potter related it works well with the theme.

Superman / Supergirl

Undying popularity of these characters with films, cartoons, comics and other merchandising continually being refreshed means that every year Superman is spotted in towns and villages everywhere. Like all good superheroes, the basic concepts stay the same but the audience is continually changing and this year a whole new generation will take on the mantle of being ‘The Man of Steel’. There is a wide range of fancy dress costumes available from toddler through to adult so this will be, as always an extremely popular theme.

Batman / Batgirl

Another fantastic Halloween fancy dress costume theme and there are the Classic Batman (grey suit) or the more recent, and more sinister looking, version from Batman Returns. Yes, Robin is popular, as are other superheroes – Flash, Catwoman etc but these do not rank as highly on the popularity chart as Batman.

Couples Costumes

Not a true theme as such but there is a growth in the popularity of couples sharing the same theme. This can be by wearing a specifically designed couples costume – handcuffs, lock and key, nut and bolt or it can be by selecting two costumes from the same overall theme – doctor and nurse, playboy bunny and playboy, fireman and firewoman etc

Ghosts and Demons

Traditional Halloween favourites. Most of these costumes are being treated to a face lift with the introduction of better quality fabrics and accessories and relatively cheap and comfortable masks – mainly based on the ‘Scream’ movie ghost. The major growth in this segment is for better quality costumes which have repeat wearability.

Saucy and Sexy Halloween Costumes

Halloween is the one time of the year when nearly anything goes and although costume choice will always be a personal issue, costumes portraying seductive or saucy witches and vampiresses always make a good selection. For those more adventurous, the major costume manufacturers are coming out with wigs and accessories to complete these costumes and the overall effect is fantastic. And this is not just for the girls, men’s costumes are also be revamped into a more modern form.
